Tom Adams Windows and Carpets

In 1955, Tom Adams started selling storm windows door to door, under the name Tom Adams Storm Windows. He would load his pick up truck with the most popular storm windows and start knocking on doors. Mr. Adams not only sold storm windows, but installed them as well. It didn’t take long before he became well known for his high quality work and affordable prices. Word quickly spread from neighbor to neighbor; Mr. Adams began selling and installing windows throughout neighborhoods in Bucks County. By 1960, Mr. Adams was not only selling and installing storm windows, but also doors, siding and other windows. Builders were coming to Mr. Adams for product and installation. He hired the best installers in the industry to insure the customer received a quality installation. After gaining popularity amongst builders, Mr. Adams started selling flooring to meet the needs of builders and homeowners as carpet had become popular and affordable.

By 1970, a large warehouse in Churchville, Pa. was built to accommodate the growing business. Tom Adams Jr. and his sister Debbie began working for Mr. Adams making it a family business. Carpet was becoming the new flooring choice for builders and homeowners and replacement windows becoming more popular than storm windows. Tom Adams Storm Windows changed their name to Tom Adams Windows and Carpets to better represent the work they did. They converted their garage into a showroom and began inviting customers to make showroom appointments while still offering free in home estimates. Within ten years, Cherrie and Glenn, Mr. Adams other children, joined the family business. Family dinners became their sales and operation meetings to ensure their number one goal: always making sure their customers are happy with their purchase and installation.

In 1991, Tom Adams Windows and Carpets opened their second location in Doylestown, Pa. The showroom displayed a variety of windows, doors and flooring from the top manufactures. Business flourished in Doylestown and Churchville. An outlet store was opened in Southampton, Pa. to sell inventory overages from their manufactures. With three stores open, it was important to the Adams family to continue to only sell top quality goods and have them installed by their best installation teams. They kept to their pricing to the lowest in the industry on stock products.

Within the next 15 years, business grew to 40 employees. The Adams opened a new showroom and warehouse in Whitehall, Pa. to serve their customers in the Lehigh Valley. Builders began coming to Tom Adams for help to resolve any problems they were having other products not purchased from Tom Adams because of the outstanding reptuation of their installers.
